The Quick and Dirty on Sluggish iPhones

If…your…phone…seems…sluggish…give it a rest. Like people, phones can’t run forever without needing a timeout. Most users go for weeks without turning off or resetting their phone and then wonder why it’s not as fast as it used to be. Remember those all-nighters you pulled in college? That’s essentially how you’re making your iPhone work.

Simple fix? Turn your device off every couple of days for at least two minutes to clear its system and return to form.

Other ways to speed up your iPhone’s performance:

• Clear Safari’s cache. To do that, go to Settings > Safari > Clear Cache.

• Delete old text messages. Unless you’re a very, very…very sentimental person, you can probably do without that text from a year and a half ago.

• Leave free space. Leaving around 750MB of free space allows the iPhone to enhance performance.

• Check email less often. Doing so every 5 minutes slows down your phone’s performance. Unless email is really important to you try checking every hour.

• Reduce emails shown. Email downloading in the background is the number one cause of sluggish iPhones. Go to settings and set it to show fewer recent messages, which should boost performance.

• Dump your unused apps. Reducing the number of apps on your phone will free up some space and give the device additional power for other things.

• Turn off Bluetooth/WiFi. This can also help improve battery performance.

• Reboot. If your iPhone still isn’t humming along after trying the previous tips try doing a hard restart by holding both the home button and power button for a few seconds.

Skyrocketing myPhoneMD Featured in BR Newspaper

This past 4^th of July, Baton Rouge’s largest newspaper, The Advocate, published an explosive story about myPhoneMD that was as spectacular as any firework that night!

Lafayette Location Opens; myPhoneMD Becomes 2nd Largest Chain in Nation

On Tuesday, June 15^th, myPhoneMD celebrated the grand opening of its fifth smartphone ER, adding a new location in Lafayette, Louisiana. With this addition, myPhoneMD became the second largest smartphone repair chain in the country. Now boasting its own smartphone trauma center, Lafayette joins Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Mandeville as myPhoneMD seeks to expand its availability to citizens across Louisiana, and soon, the nation.

myPhoneMD on ABC 26 News!

Garden District resident and ABC 26 News reporter Sheldon Fox swung by myPhoneMD on Magazine St in New Orleans to have a quick look around on Friday April 2nd. Mr. Fox just so happened to bring a crew and a stack of observations and questions. The story was cleared, shot, edited and aired in all of about 4 hours and we crazy impressed at the personality and ethic of everyone involved.

Both the print and video version of Mr. Fox’s story were the most viewed items on the site for a couple of days and we got a ton of emails and calls about the piece. If you didn’t have a chance to see Jeffro hyperventilating, performing repairs, and playing guitar live and direct you can catch the embed below.

Well, its been a long time coming but we have finally gotten around to posting the winner of our first iPad Giveaway! Big congratulations to Olivia Carter and her Sister Courtney for entering Olivia in the Contest. You can check out the aftermath here!

iPad.. A gadget as potentially transformative as it has been polarizing. We here at myPhoneMD can tell you after 5 days of ownership that what we have on our hands is a veritable game changer. We we watched the news coverage on the iPad’s launch day one thing became glaringly apparent—Many people wanted to get their hands on one, but most couldn’t give a solid answer as to why they wanted it.

As we mentioned at Net2NO on Tuesday April 6th, we are going to be giving away a brand spanking new Apple iPad and the competition starts right now.

Here is the skinny, rather than a lazy excercise of following on twitter and fanning on facebook getting you into this sexy beast of a mobile device, we at myPhoneMD want to know WHY you want and need an iPad in your life. We will then select the most compelling argument and badda bing: iPad loving.

Head on over to our facebook fan page via this link. It will bring you to a nice crispy picture of your prospective new iPad. Go ahead and tag yourself on the picture of your new iPad. (You have to be a fan of myPhoneMD in order to tag the pic, so if tagging yourself isn’t an option you besta fan up!
After you tag yourself in the pic, leave a comment on the iPad pic telling us all about how you absolutely have to have this iPad and why we need to give it to you. Hint: “just cause” isn’t a satisfactory answer :)
Copy your freshly posted comment and paste your comment along with myPhoneMD into your status for the world to see. Ex: “myPhoneMD should give me the free iPad because myPhoneMD FTW!!!” Or something along those lines. We aren’t sticklers.

We see a ton of quality reasons to own and use an iPad in your daily life and work despite the fact that no one interviewed by any network on launch day had a reasonable answer to the question of “Why the iPad” We will select the poster of the most compelling argument for iPad ownership next Friday the 16th of April.

They were impressed to say the least which lead to front page placement of a very intriguing, and one of their most read articles online .

In the end Dr. Green was able to navigate the interview with only a single mention of dog walking logistics and offered some solid advice to students wishing to start a business: 1. Once again we have proved that we ain’t no fibbers: myPhoneMD is alive and kicking on Magazine St. in New Orleans!!! You asked for it and now here we are. Patience is certainly a virtue… as we have learned in our various dealings with some wonderful city employees :) This is our 4th and most ambitious smartphone trauma center yet and we are super excited to be here. We officially opened our doors at 1821 Magazine St. on the 1st of March and are preparing for our Grand Opening. The opening event spectacular spectacle of spectacles will commence March 12th at 9:30am and we would love for you to be here. We have several prominent city officials, media types and many other noteworthy folks to share champagne with you.
